About Beyond Beans

Truth be told, we “stumbled” upon growing Nicaraguan’s finest coffee. Back in the late 1990’s we purchased a piece of land near Jinotega, Nicaragua, to develop a Vida Joven (Young Life) camp. Coffee plants were growing on this property so we harvested these, cupped them, and realized what an extraordinary product this land could produce. Little by little we began to plant more coffee and now have 25 acres under development.

Here is a cup of coffee worth waking up for! One person said, “I look forward to going to bed at night, so I can wake up to a cup of Beyond Beans coffee.” So when our coffee won a blind taste test against eight Kona coffees in Hawaii, we were not surprised. We knew our cup was superb.

Every year, we have over 300 North American visitors to La Finca, many of them on short-term mission trips. While they are with us, part of their work on the farm is fertilizing, weeding, and sheltering against the wind the young coffee plants. Some of these North American partners, who put their hands in the soil of La Finca three years ago, are now drinking the coffee they lovingly nurtured.
